East Hull MP Karl Turner has responded to a Care Quality Commission inspection on the Pink Panther Care Home, which was told to either improve or close.
A recent on the spot inspection found that residents were being woken up as early as 3am, with some not knowing the time.
On the report, Karl Turner said “This latest CQC report of the Pink Panther care home makes for dire reading. S&M Care Homes Ltd have serious questions to answer about the care that was given. No one should have to worry about the care that they, or their family receive.
“Our older people deserve better and I will be working closely with Hull City Council to make sure that steps are put in place to prevent something like this happening again. The people of East Hull have a right to know that their loved ones are being looked after properly.
“Adult social care is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off in the Tories' face. On David Cameron's watch, £2.7 billion has been cut from local council budgets for adult social care – and the system is now close to collapse. This is why Labour has called for physical health, mental health and social care to be put into a single system built around the individual”.
