COVID-19 represents a crisis within a crisis for legal aid practitioners and the Criminal Justice System, which for too long has been creaking at the seams. This report aims to outline the underlying conditions, the Government’s mistakes, and, hopefully, the way forward as we begin to move beyond this pandemic. There can be no return to a pre-Covid status quo – the sustainability of access to justice depends on it.
