Over the past month, a significant number of constituents have contacted me regarding East Park during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

As your Member of Parliament, I have been working on your behalf to reach a solution with Councillor Dave Craker, Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, local residents and Hull Culture and Leisure.

At the beginning of the pandemic, the government mandated that all local authorities must allow their parks to remain open in order to encourage people to use public spaces for exercise during the lockdown period.

However, as staffing levels are now resuming and we are making a move towards some normality again, the overnight closure of the East Park pedestrian gates will now recommence from next month.

From Monday 14 September, all 14 gates will be closed from around 7pm and will reopen around 7.30am. The opening and closing times will be displayed on the gates.

I’m aware that many residents have other issues regarding East Park that they’d like to raise with me. Because of this, I will be holding a public meeting so that residents can raise their thought moving forward.

This will take place on Wednesday 12th August, 6pm-7pm.

In attendance at this meeting will be key stakeholders within the community.

Due to Covid-19, this meeting will be taking place virtually through Zoom.

If you wish to attend, please register in advance here, please provide your Postcode so we know you are from the local community wishing to attend: https://eu01web.zoom.us/…/u5wvdOGpqD4pHNefuLsPtPG4Zlt1cl7Y8…

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

I look forward to seeing as many of you that can attend next Wednesday.
