The Queen’s Speech
A Queen’s Speech is a government’s chance to announce their plans for new laws they intend to pass. Nothing like that happened yesterday. Whilst poverty, food bank usage and homelessness continue to rise, this out of touch Tory government had the Queen delivering their election manifesto at the taxpayers’ expense.
With a majority of minus 45, the Tories know that there is no hope of their proposals becoming law, yet they still subjected Her Majesty to the pantomime of reading out their absurd joke list. The pledges of more funding for some public services don’t come close to repairing the damage the Tories have done since 2010.
Only a Labour government will genuinely transform East Hull and the UK for the many, not the few.
