Council-owned car parks and on-street parking will no longer charge motorists for parking until further notice.

These measures have been put in place by the local authority until further notice in order to assist key workers who need to travel across the city. It comes after the council also took the decision to extend all parking permits until the end of June this year.

Councillor Daren Hale, deputy leader of Hull City Council, said: “We have taken this action to mirror the current state of play across the city. “With the public being urged to stay at home, work from home and only leave the house for essential reasons, we wanted to help residents where possible and suspend these charges.

“This also adheres to the Government’s guidelines around social distancing and discouraging key workers from using public transport.

Motorists are asked to respect loading bays to allow critical supplies to get through. Councillor Hale said: “We also ask that you respect disabled bays, residential parking zones and electric charging points.”

Pryme Street car park has also been closed, however all other council-owned car parks remain open.
