Last week I was proud to add my name along with over 80 other MPs to a letter from Sarah Owen to Matt Hancock, calling on the Government to cancel the student debt of those nurses who have started their careers early to tackle COVID-19.
Over 5,000 have answered the call for student medics to graduate early and join the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus. They are, simply, heroes, and they should be treated as such.
Staff in our NHS are risking their own health for the sake of ours. It is a clear injustice that they should have to shoulder a burden of debt too.
