This morning I wrote to the Secretary of State for Education about this Governments chaotic and incompetent handling of this year’s exams, and how this is robbing a generation in East Hull of their futures.

These young people have spent dedicated years of hard work and effort to their education. However, due to Covid-19 these young people were unable to sit their exams, and instead found their grades entirely dependent on an algorithm.

This algorithm was unfair and discriminatory, and meant young people in East Hull were downgraded purely based upon the area they live in and their school they’ve attended. Grades cannot be decided by life circumstances, to do so is grossly unfair.

I look forward to receiving an urgent response from the Secretary of State.
