Boris Johnson has finally said he will resign. But his party would still rather cling to whatever power they have left as a “government” than give this country the ‘Fresh start’ it needs.

Whilst things are getting heated in the Tory Party, people are wondering if they’ll be able to heat their homes this winter. Energy bills are rising, food prices have tripled, our children are left with no post-Covid help with their learning in the face of an Education Department in chaos, we can’t even pretend to be Levelling Up because Johnson wanted to give Gove the boot before he got it, and our NHS is falling apart not just since Javid left but in the wake of 12 years of Tory government.

Boris Johnson says he wants to stay on until Autumn as Prime Minister, showing he simply doesn’t care.

Wages are down, taxes are up, and inflation is at record high, it’s clear that one man won’t change anything, not even a new Cabinet will.

This country needs a complete change of government, not the same tired Tories of the last decade.

The Tories had the audacity to say they’re ‘Grateful’ for Boris Johnson’s reign in Urgent Questions today, but it’s clear they’ve nothing to be grateful for, as Keir Starmer put it: This country needs a ‘Fresh Start’.

Only Labour can rebuild Britain and get on with the job. We can make our public services first class, build a fairer society that doesn’t tax working people to the brink, we can get prices under control and lift wages from 12 years of Tory stagnation. This is not fantasy, Mark Drakeford does it every day.

Angela Rayner was spot on today: ‘We don’t have a functioning government’. We need Labour.
