OFGEM have announced a decrease in the energy price cap, decreasing it from £2074 to £1923 per year (based on average use). Although this is a ‘positive’ change, it still does not help with the disproportionate increase from late 2022.

From March 2022 to now, we still have a near 50% increase, despite the ‘courteous’ decrease of £151. This change is obviously performative.

Since early 2022, the minimum wage has increased by only 9.6%. This does not substitute for the exorbitant and exploitative increase in our energy costs.

Since 2022, major energy supplier E-on has predicted a 37-49% increase in profits at the cost of the common person’s livelihood.

This government does not stand for the rights of the constituent and consistently allows for price-gouging to be done at the cost of the country. This shameful attempt to ‘help’ the common person with an essentially performative decrease of the energy price cap is yet another example of Conservative failure and advocation for the growth of conglomerates at the cost of the nation.
