It is that time of year again, where I wish everyone across East Hull a Merry Christmas and all the best for a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

It is during this time of year that we can truly reflect on the positive impact of so many individuals in our community.

I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our incredible public sector workers and countless others who will be working tirelessly through Christmas.

Your dedication to the well-being of our community is truly commendable, and I am grateful for your service. I also want to acknowledge our brave armed forces, who will be spending this festive season separated from their loved ones, both at home and abroad. You are always in our thoughts, and we appreciate your sacrifice.

I also want to express my thanks to everyone who contributes to the strength and vibrancy of our community – faith groups, youth organisations, charities, volunteers, and especially my own staff whose support is invaluable, and I know has personally helped so many of you across the year.

I know that 2023 has been a tough year for many. The mortgage rate bombshell, energy prices soaring, and the cost-of-living crisis all hitting working families in areas like ours hardest. Thirteen years under a Tory government has left Britain balancing on a cliff edge. But there is hope.

With a general election on the horizon next year, I am hopeful for a new Labour Government. Although they will inherit a difficult situation on a national level, I am confident that Labour is prepared to deliver the opportunities of tomorrow.

The best gift we can offer families this Christmas is the promise of a transformative Labour Government that will restore Britain’s future and provide the recognition and hope that people desperately need and deserve.

Best wishes for the festive season!
