Today, I had the pleasure of visiting the North Atlantic Fishing Company, a cornerstone of our local economy here in Hull, as they celebrate their 40th anniversary. Established in 1984, this company has been instrumental in the sustainable catching of pelagic fish species, contributing significantly to our community and the broader UK fishing industry.

My visit began with a tour of the Frank Bonefaas, a major UK fishing vessel docked at King George Dock. It was an incredible experience to step aboard and see first hand the operations that support over 60 Humber-based fishermen and many more through local supply chains.

During the tour, I had the opportunity to meet with local fishermen and key fishing businesses operating out of Hull. These interactions were invaluable, providing me with a deeper understanding of the priorities and challenges faced by my constituents in the fishing sector. The dedication and hard work of these individuals are truly commendable, and it was an honour to hear their stories and insights.

The North Atlantic Fishing Company has played a pivotal role in our community for four decades, and their commitment to sustainability and economic contribution is something we can all be proud of. As we celebrate this milestone, I look forward to continuing to support our local fishing industry and ensuring its prosperity for many years to come.

Thank you to everyone who made this visit possible and to the North Atlantic Fishing Company for their ongoing contributions to Hull and the UK fishing industry. Here’s to many more successful years ahead!
